The controversial 1142-kilometre
rail line from the garrison town of Golmud in Qinghai province to Tibet's
capital, Lhasa, has been completed this June. It has brought
not only happiness and honor to the government and the majority in China,
but also the worries and censures from international activists and Tibetans-in-exile in the rest of world.
This research paper will discuss
whether the government should build the Qinghai-Tibet railway or not. I agree with that the government should build the railway
as it can bring huge benefits to Tibetans and make the economy thrived. However, the critics think that the railway will threaten
the Tibetans' existence, including the culture, the policy and the environment.
I chose this topic because I want to show facts and arguments to prove the railway will
bring more advantages than disadvantages to Tibetans.
